We recently spoke to Phoebe about her journey with bbodance. Phoebe has taken part in many of the events, training and classes we offer, and we loved hearing about her experiences! Read on to find out more...

My name is Phoebe and I attend Angela Beardmore School of Dance and Rebecca Heath Dance Studios and my main dance teacher is Beccy Ford.

I have taken numerous exams with bbodance and I currently study ballet, jazz, tap and modern.  I always enjoy doing exams with bbodance and I believe I benefit greatly from the examiners feedback and corrections.

The bbodance syllabus has definitely helped me progress in my dance journey as it has given me solid foundations in multiple styles and pushes me to become a better dancer.

I have also completed the Level 3 Teaching Assistant course which has given me confidence when assisting my teacher. I enjoyed all the separate modules and find myself assisting classes differently with the new information I have gained.

Some of my best memories are from when I attended bbodance Dance Days, I think I not only progressed as a dancer, but also as a person. Boarding encouraged me to be more independent and it gave me a taste of what vocational school would be like.

The Scholars Scheme was one of the first external programmes I attended and being under the expertise of Miss Gibbs, I have learnt so much about not only ballet technique but how to conduct myself on stage and perform. One aspect of the Scholars Scheme that I enjoyed the most was that we had the opportunity to do repertoire from iconic ballets which we don’t always have time to do in my weekly classes.

My advice to any dancer is to just go for it, you never know what doors will open and no matter what the outcome you will have fun along the way.

Moving forwards, I will be going into Year 11 in September and hopefully will be auditioning for vocational schools and finishing off my bbodance exams whilst keeping up with various associate schemes.

When I first joined bbodance I wouldn’t have believed how many opportunities would have come my way. I truly believe they have impacted my dance journey in the most positive way possible! Thank you bbodance.
