Winter Workshop in partnership with NYB

bbodance and National Youth Ballet invite students to take part in a special ballet workshop this winter!

Students working at Grade 2 and above will have the opportunity to explore National Youth Ballet repertoire, developing their performance skills, confidence and stage presence alongside expert tuition from NYB Artistic Director Amelia O’Hara.

Dance with like-minded ballet enthusiasts, build your technical and performance skills, and work towards a mini showing for family and friends in the bbodance studio.

Juniors (11am - 1.30pm) is designed for students studying Grades 2 - 4, ages 9-12.

11.00-12.00: Ballet class (free work)

12.00-12.15: Break

12:15-13:30: Repertoire & showing

Seniors (2 - 5pm) is designed for students studying Grades 5 & above, ages 13-17.

14.00-15.30: Ballet class (free work)

15.30-15.45: Break

15:45-17:00: Repertoire & showing

These workshops are open to all - not just bbodance or NYB members.

About your tutor: Amelia O'Hara, Artistic Director of NYB

Amelia (she/her) is an experienced ballet educator, former professional dancer and arts leader who is passionate about ensuring that young people have the opportunity to experience the joy and transformational power of dance. She believes in creating positive, inclusive environments and advocates for wider access routes into the arts.

Amelia trained at The Royal Ballet School and Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, performing with The Royal Ballet and Northern Ballet during her training. She went on to enjoy an international performing career with companies including Scottish Ballet, Ballet Ireland, Peter Schaufuss Ballet Company and Ballet Cymru, and has performed works by leading choreographers including Sir Peter Wright, Ohad Naharin, Arielle Smith and Drew McOnie.

Following her performing career, Amelia completed The Royal Ballet School’s Diploma of Dance Teaching and currently teaches on The Royal Ballet School’s Associate Programme and Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Dance Track programme. Alongside this, she has built a broad range of teaching and creative experience across the sector, working with students at all stages of their dance journey.
